A new report says that more anime, which is a type of cartoon from Japan, was sold outside Japan than in Japan for the first time. The report is from the Association of Japanese Animations. It found that the overseas anime market, especially in North America and China, grew by 3.2% in 2020, reaching about $10.8 billion. But in Japan, the anime market became smaller by 9.7%, reaching about $10.4 billion. The global anime market, which includes both Japan and overseas, became smaller in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, going down by 3.5% from the year before.
