A new survey in Japan found that people who exercise regularly feel happier in life. Over 56,000 people were part of the survey, which happened between May and October 2022. The participants said how often they exercised and for how long, and also shared how fulfilled they felt in life.

The results showed that 42% of men in their 40s who exercised at least one hour, three days a week or more, felt fulfilled in life. For women in their 40s, the results were almost the same. However, among those who didn't exercise much, only 18% of men and women in their 40s felt fulfilled.

In the group of people in their 70s, 47% of men and 45% of women who exercised felt fulfilled. Even those in their 70s who didn't exercise much still felt fulfilled — 30% for men and 26% for women.

It's not clear if exercise makes people feel happier or if happy people exercise more, according to Noriko Sekine from the Open University of Tokyo, who was part of the research. But it seems like exercise and feeling fulfilled are connected, so maybe trying to exercise more could make you feel happier!
